Starting a Booth on a budget

Starting a booth on a budget……I am sure you have seen my previous posts and already know that Jason and I opened a booth at the new Painted Tree Boutique inside Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center.  If you have visited our house in the past few months you have seen all the boxes, and creative chaos that has been going down….LOL!

So anyways I am going to start a series of blog posts on how to open a booth on a small budget, because if you know me you know I am very frugal and I like to see what I can create with the things I already have in my home or thrifted items I find for a bargain.

I will admit starting a booth has always been a dream of mine but the thought of all the design/planning behind it kind of overwhelmed me at first.  But once we got rolling it has actually been a fun process.  Since becoming an empty nester last year, I have been trying to open my heart up to new things and focusing more on the things I have always wanted to do and then just going for it!

Jason and I decided to mostly focus on our jewelry as the premise of the booth because that is what our business started on and was built around but we have introduced some other fun items into our booth to make it interesting at fun.  Most of you probably didn’t know that we also started another small business called Plantutie we were excited to add some of our plants and greenery into the design of our booth because who doesn’t love a cute little faux plant to decorate with?  I have also curated some fun and unique thrifted finds that are mixed in and for sale.

My number one piece of advice if you are thinking about starting a booth at a local antique shop or even Painted Tree like us is to Shop your Home, I found décor items I wasn’t using any longer or I was ready to part with so those were perfect ways to fill my booth and make it more interesting. I also found things like a mirror I took off of my dining room wall and replaced it with a thrifted driftwood peace sign just to refresh the space. I decided to use the mirror to hang on a wall in the booth so customers can hold up and see what a piece of our jewelry might look like on them.  I took a clock off of our living room wall and Jason made it into a display table (I will have a blog post about that coming soon).  You can always find ways to repurpose and reuse items you already have, whether it be for display or an actual item you can sell and make a profit.

Staging is key when it comes to your booth, make it interesting to look at so when people are walking down the aisle they are drawn in.  A booth that is staged beautifully and well designed will help your customers envision your items in their home or your jewelry added to their wardrobes.

I hope these tips are helpful, I will have a lot more posts about the details of some of the items we have in our booth and update you on how it is going, the first 30 days have been so good…….we are very excited!   If you have questions about starting a booth on a budget at Painted Tree Boutique or anything else just let me know in the comments or shoot me a message on social media.

The Finished Booth!
